Chamber Update regarding Coronavirus
Hello, Kershaw County community. As the coronavirus cases continue to rise in our county, it is important that we all stay well-informed and diligent to minimize the spread of illness in our community. We know that this is a difficult time, especially for our businesses that are already seeing the impact of changes in behavior. We want you to know that the Kershaw County Chamber is here for you and your business. Please see below for the activities and information the Chamber is currently working on.
Where to find information and updates
The Chamber is meeting regularly with local governments to create a coordinated effort to support the community. In addition, we are receiving updates from and are participating in daily conference calls with the federal government and the Small Business Administration. Today we have created a dedicated website for businesses to get the most up-to-date information; this website will be updated at least once a day with new information. We are also committed to posting business-focused updates, at least once a day on our website blog, Facebook and Instagram pages. Information is changing at a rapid pace, so please check back daily.
Chamber leadership is also working closely with local governments to identify ways to help local businesses during this difficult time. We are putting together a small business task force to meet regularly to discuss the main pressure points for small businesses so that we can work together to be proactive and potentially minimize the challenges being faced. If there are particular concerns that you are having at your business that you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to call (803-432-2525) or email us directly. In addition to business concerns, please let us know about any schedule or service changes you implement or any specials you are offering. We want to hear from you! Do not hesitate to reach out.
Chamber Office
The Chamber’s office is located on the Central Carolina Technical College’s Kershaw County campus, and the college is closed through the end of the month. This means that their facilities are closed to the public. Therefore, our office will not be open to the public either. Please call us (803-432-2525) or email if you need to reach us.
Postponed Events
The annual Chamber Golf Tournament, originally scheduled on March 19, 2020, as well as the Job Fair, originally scheduled on March 24, 2020, have been postponed. We will let you know when new dates are set.
Final Thoughts
We love this community, and have seen the great things that can be done when we pull together and support one another. We encourage everyone to look for the positive and remain calm and focused. We will weather this together and while we may come out different on the other end, we will continue to be the strong and resilient community we know and love.
Sincerely,
Deborah Outlaw, Board President
Amy Kinard, Executive Director
